Lowering the bars
« on: 20 January 2013, 08:38:41 pm »
After something to lower the bars on my FZS1000, it's got what I'm 99.9999%sure are renthal ultralows on at the moment, and I still seem to be sitting far too upright compared to what I'm used to!
Had a search and it didn't come up with a lot of info for the 1000 other than the GTYR lowering kit, which is bloody expensive new!
Was wondering if there were any other commonly used options available to lower the bars? Ideal situation would be a set of clipons to be honest, if anyone has ever experiemented with those?

I've got renthal 758's, gytr lowering kit and a cut down seat with 25mm rear jack up kit and i find it perfect. Sit more 'in' the bike rather than 'on' the bike.

I use 658' s that are about as flat as I want to go. It pulls me slightly forward and reliving pressure on my arse so less numb bum.
I also have the back jacked and the front dropped 12mm ( with the 658 this rests on the top of the forks at 12 mm ) so is as low as I can go without other changes costing more.

R1 fork conversion lowers the front but can be costly unless a bargin is found.
Maybe get some clip ons made and drop the forks 20 mm to take them. But that would need horn moving and stiffer springs and maybe even moving the horn bracket and altering the mudguard.

Just random thoughts I had while sleep deprived hehe.

Suburban S2's were the bars of choice some years ago, not sure if you can still get them.
