Lack of power!
« on: 06 January 2013, 03:48:55 pm »
Hey guys,

I'm having problems with my fzs600 fazer 98 model. I went out today with a few friends with 600's for the first time (only had the bike a few weeks) and there acceleration and speed where so much better than mine (bandit 600 & 650). I had a go on the 650 and it was miles better acceleration than mine.

Because of the weather it has been the first chance for me to test out the performance properly. I decided to see on the way home how fast I could get out of it and all I could manage was 85mph it would not go any faster :(

I got the bike on eBay !! (I know). It's done 23k miles and I just put new down pipes on it so I know it's not been restricted from the exhaust or anything.

If anyone could help me or point me in the right direction of the cause I would really appreciate it.

Ben

phew i really i hope it is.

i bought it as a ex part exchange and its the first 600 i have been on i was a little disappointed with the power but i didnt know any better because the closest thing i had been on was the ER500.

do you know the sort of money a garage should charge to remove one?

just contact the person you bought it off and ask them if it's restricted

its a shop and i have sent them an email asking, it was a part exchange and they never stated it was restricted so if i have got to pay to take it off i think im well within my rights to ask them to contribute. what do you think?

seems fair to me. sure you can't lose anything asking. if it's restricted with washers in the carb inlets it's no big deal getting them out. i'd guess they might charge an hours labour if they're going to be w@nkers about it.

Hi,
If its a genuine Yamaha restriction kit you will need the standard carb needles and throttle springs, but i think they are simple to fit ( got to do mine ) what does it rev up too as mine will just about hit 8000 rpm in top.
