Water inside swing arm?

Had my tyres replaced on Friday.  As I watched the mechanic remove the rear wheel, a lot of water ran out of one side of the swing arm.  Difficult to tell how much, but from the size of the puddle and the time it took to stop draining, I'd say about a cup full.


Anyone seen this before?


This can only be rainwater, but should I be concerned about it?  Should I be trying to locate the inlet and plugging it, or maybe drilling a drain hole?

Sometimes trying to find were water is entering can be difficult and condensation would be impossible to stop. I'd be tempted to drill a small hole at the lowest point, probably close to the adjuster. What do others think?

Yeah, all 3 of mine have done that as by the sounds of it you ride all year round. It's probably just muck that's blocked off the drain holes in the end caps and rain water has gathered in there.
You've just got to learn to get out of the way when you break the seal at tyre change time

this was a common problem with the thundercat models so I don't think the fazer will be any diffent.
when you take the guide ends off ,you'll see a little slot at the bottom end.
this is suppose to  let the water out but because it so small it is easily clogs up.
on my th/cat I made the slot wider and longer.
it cured the water retention problem.

Do you use a power washer to clean it - just an idea ( I know it says you shouldn't in the manual ) maybe it gets in that way?
