It was an unmarked police BIKE behind him!   :pokefun

Rather sobering for me, Thats one of my regular roads and the first part you see heading up hill is the first chance you get of a blast for a few miles so it's usually full chat up that bit but it turns back into single track double whites again at the top.

It's a 50 limit for all 7 or so miles with double whites along the majority and it's quiet undulating meaning you cant get great views of approaching traffic. Sometimes it just appears out of an unseen dip which is why the double whites are there!

One thing for sure I won't be giving it some with any unknown bikes behind be now.

I wonder whether the speeding biker could claim that he felt egged on by the bike behind?

two things I think
1. its stupid to do  that speed in the first place, its even stupider to do it with an unknown vehicle behind you !
2. he was wearing jeans....tbh I think he got off really lightly, as any crash at that speed would have lost him his legs or be fatal.Let alone the consequences to any other road user.

tbh its the sort of material anti bike lobbyists relish, and nobbers like this hand it over on a plate...I may seem overreacting , but this sort of riding can lead to problems for everyone. Such speeds should be done discreetly and with full knowledge of just who is about etc...

as for wheelies, well its showing off , and also possibly  instant ban material. To just pull em without thought is ditto to above.

Agree with pitternator.

If I'm shifting and something keeps up with me, well I slow down, let it pass and have a good look.  Life without a driving license would be murder.

Got caught once before and let off (lucky me) not having spotted a traffic car following me as I blasted along some country roads.  Very quiet road so only spotted it after it had been following me for a few miles when I checked my mirror to pass one of the few cars on the road - oh shit what's that doing behind me!

I ate humble pie, took the stern lecture, apologised profusely and they let me go.  I could have been facing a ban.

I'm afraid I have little sympathy either. Speeding is one thing. 150mph is something else. Pulling wheelies is also something else! There's not place for wheelies on the road, or that sort of excessive speed.

We all have our mad moments, I've been guilty of that too, but this is sheer stupidity.

As for the length of the ban, I think it should of been longer, but I guess his circumstances have been taken into account. Whether that's fair or not is another story!

UFO: unknown following object......

I've always pulled over as I'm paranoid after a couple of pulls.

100% agree with Pitternator. Knobs like this are just selfish 2wats.

And what about the knobhead copper who ALLOWS it to carry on instead of guarding the safety of other road users (which is what he's supposedly there to do). I'm guessing he was enjoying the thrill of the chase a bit too much. Really f#cks me off when the Police behave this way - they should prevent accidents, not allow it to go on for miles "to gather evidence".

The Holly Hill one he mentions is currently closed but supposed to re-opening in January to permit holders.
My mate took his pushbike up there last week to check the progress of the repairs and regrading taking place to find absolutely nothing has been done so maybe we've lost that for good as well.

A quote from his blog about the R1

You can’t make use of any litre sportsbike performance on the road

But you sure did try!

find it a joke this guy gets a 3 month ban for pleading guilty for driving without due care and attention, i get banned for 12 months for "dangerous driving for having an accident at 1/4 that speed.

joke.

Driving without due care and Dangerous driving a completely different, with Dangerous having the bigger penalty.  I'm surprised doing 150mph didn't get dangerous driving though tbh.

I bet none of you have gone over the speed limit....we all have powerful bikes for a reason.....otherwise a 125 would be enough!!!!!!!

I dont think the critisim is just about the speed he was doing it was the circumstances and the way he was riding eg popping wheelies!

think we all agree with you that none of us are innocent about speeding! and maybe we got bigger / more powerful bikes to enable us to get up to speed quicker!  8)

I've used a 125 for commuting 120 miles/day for work.  It was painful  :'(

ouch! a mate of mine used to travel from Mansfield to Northwood every week on a Yamaha RXS100. In winter he would arrive at work like a snowman! I even offered to give him a lift in my cage occasionally but he actually preferred to be on his bike!

Quit giving the guy a hard time.  All he did was open it up, the first chance he got.  The road was open, clear, dry.  Wheelie was well controlled and only short.  He got caught.  Ban was adequate for the offence.  It's not like he was doing it in a built up residential area.  He did not crash and caused no inconvenience to other traffic.  I agree that it is ammunition to the anti bike lobby, and I don't condone excessive speed, but it is nothing that a lot of us have done at some point.  I'm sure this will slow him down, so job done.
