Holes in yoke for risers
« on: 07 November 2012, 03:37:28 pm »
Hi I have done the R1 front fork upgrade and was wondering what the distance was between the left and right riser mounting  holes on the yoke (centre to centre) as getting some billet risers and clamp made, and dont really want to strip it down yet to measure it lol
reason i mentioned the R1 upgrade was cant remember if it was an R1 top yoke or faser lol  :'( :'(

cheers muchly

It will most likely be the R1 top yoke, Keith.  Gen 1 Fazer yoke doesn't fit and I'm sure you'd recall using a Gen II FZ1 yoke.

The centres for the bolt holes you enlarged to take your present clamps may well vary depending on which model R1 forks you used so I think you'd be safest double-checking exactly what's on your bike.

Doesn't really matter which model you used, mate ... to be sure that your machinist gets the top clamp correctly matched to the actual yoke bolt holes, you need to measure it accurately for him.

Better still, remove the yoke and give it to him to work with.

Are they similar to the frame plugs you do, and do they fit into extenders or into the yoke with the forkes droped slightly???
I have not used extenders so would like something to hide the fork adjusters etc so need something to fit into yoke with the forkes dropped slightyl to accom

Sorry, Keith, but that won't work.  Check the height of the preload and rebound adjusters on top of the forks.  They about twice as long as the top yoke is deep so they'll always be sticking up even if you lower the forks in the yoke ... which I wouldn't do for safety's sake.

easing you ?? cant see y wont work with r1 as long as the hole is 50mm (well i can make them to any size) these slip over existing leg to a stop this retains stock fazer fork length then into the top yoke here you have +- 10mm adjustment

teasing me with nicey pics lol  :b
my forkes (5JJ) are in the r1 yoke (5JJ) fitted tightly of course at mo however i have measured the diameter of the fork 160mm
therefor if my o level maths is till up to scratch that means 159 divided by Pi equal 50.6mm now there is another 2mm of adjustment left before the hole cant be tightened anymore is this enough???
and the final question how much????  :rollin
