Pilot road 1s
« on: 29 October 2012, 03:15:36 pm »
Have been using PilotRoad 2s for last 18 months but I've seen Pilot Road 1s at about £50 cheaper per pair. Has anyone used them? Wouldn't mind knowing how they compare in terms of grip and wear rates to Pilot 2s. I get about 7000 miles out of 2s and am going through 2 sets a year so I am looking to save a bit of cash if possible.

My bike came with pr 1's. Did about 9k on the rear, front was still good. Found the rear used to slide in a very communicative way just letting you know that you're reaching  its limit. Had the front slip away once on a very damp roundabout, didn't like that much. Replaced with pr 3's, have been superb even ragging it around Brands.

Probably false economy as the PR3 are a far superior tyre and will last longer and grip better in all types of weather than the PR1.
