I shall miss Ceefax. Knew all of the important page numbers by heart. The new-tangled digital affair is rubbish by comparison. I liked the fact you had to wait for the page to move on. None of this instant changing of pages. Ahhh...101, 160, 301, 601.

They're now discussing how to turn off DVB (aka "Freeview") and replace it with broadband TV.
After all, why waste all that luverly bandwidth on "Broadcasting" when everyone's got t'internet you can flog the Megahertz to Vodafone?

In 10 years, there will be no TV (in Greek ... Tele=far  In Latin ...  Vision=see)
There will just be "looking into the hole of your choice" and it will be called ...  "Vultis aspicientes in foveam"

Get ready for the great Freeview turn-off.

I was still making use of Ceefax up until February this year when analogue transmissions were switched off in my area. For a look at the news headlines and weather it was quicker than waiting for the computer to boot up and a hell of a lot faster than the "red button" service... I don't know anyone who finds the new system useful.
