Oops, brakes.

What a tit, trying to "quickly" look at the brakes on my bike last night, I mistakenly popped a piston out as I forgot to remove the bloody master cyl top and once I got all pistons clean and free I couldn't wedge my tool back in there in time to stop it.
Now have loads of air in the system and can't find my bleeder valve.
Have some steel lines on the way anyway, so I will get it all ready for them to be fitted at the weekend in the meantime.
They weren't as dirty as I have seen, but still a couple of pistons each side weren't very willing!

you could be arrested for that mate . dont worry about it......its all a great big learning curve

good time to check clean /replace the full brake system while your at it then!

I accidentally did exactly the same with mines too..gave the front brakes a good clean and as i gad air in the system decided tosoak up the old stuff in the resivoir and refill and bleed with lovely new fresh stuff.. .. Sorted..

May do the rear this weejend now..

Ha ha good ones. Couldn't get the usual extension bar in these calipers so was using a screwdriver, but took it out for a minute and forgot to bloody put it back just in case then it was too late.
 
As I said, I may as well get the old hoses off and drain / clean it all out and clean the calipers at a more leisurely pace indoors over the next few evenings, then replace it all ready for the new lines to go on.

OK, so I removed the old rubber hoses and put some Goodrdige ones (2nd hand) on at the weekend, managed to bleed them out with nothing more flash then 2 x half metres of clear tubing and 2 empty coffee jars.
Gravity and patience play their part here, after some advice from a bike mechanic I know and he was right. 
 
Only problem I have is the lines I bought are a 1-2 set-up using another original Yamaha splitter and the top line to the cylinder is too long in my opinion, has a strange route around the fork leg, but doesn't foul anywhere on any lock, unlike my throttle cables appear to on left lock...
 
New fluid, lines and 8 moving pistons have improved the brakes somewhat!
