Power commander 3 were to put it ? and a question

Folks,

got a FZ1s (2007 in case its relevant ?) that has a PC3 fitted in what I assume is the usual place under pillion seat in the wee doochit the tool kit would sit, however I miss this wee space to put things mainly puncture kit ( noo that I've said it I'll need it next time I head out).

So is there somewhere else I can locate the PC3 I did think about at the front under a fairing panel, but from what I can see I don't think the cabling would be long enough, or they maybe interference issues with running the cabling over the engine ?

....Any ideas ??

NOw a question when I bought the bike it came with the PC fitted guys stated it had been setup on a dyno but I had my doubts, as it has a Duke map loaded onto it, which you can get freely but I've read mainy people all stating the samething if you don't want to damage your engine then get it setup on a dyno.......?

my question is if the PC plugs into the ECU and complements the factory fuelling, surely the PC can only add fuel at certain points and not subtract/limit fuel if this is the case then even if you don't setup the PC on a dyno you not cause harm as all the will happen is the engine will run rich or I have missed something, I understand a correctly setup PC done on a dyno will give the best performance.....

First, you won't stuff up your motor using one of Duken's maps.  He's done several (all available freely from the US FZ1OA forum site) and they're all good, safe loads.

I believe some folks remove the EXUP servo motor from Gen IIs and put the PC unit there.  However, since the puncture repair kit doesn't require wiring into the bike (and only gets used once in a blue moon) surely better to zip tie that under the fairing panel or whereever ... ?

A PCIII and/or PC V unit allow infinite adjustment of the fuelling across the rev range, adding or reducing fuel as required.  It effectively over-rides the ECU provided that the O2 sensor is disabled.

'Best performance' is such a vague term.  Best peak power?  Best fuel economy?  Best for smooth power delivery in the mid-range?  Best of minimum vibes/throttle response etc etc.

thought if you removed the servo motor it threw up an error ? (this a Gen 2 Fazer)

Didn't realise the PC could limit as well as add fuel, makes sense when you think about it

You can get an electronic gizmo which fools the ECU into thinking the servo motor is still connected.  If you want to retain the servo to save on buying the gizmo, that limits your options in that area.

I've separated my puncture repair kit into individual parts and taped them into the smaller spaces under the seat, around electrical units and so on.  Amazing how much you can store that way if you're prepared to use the gaps that are there.

you also could carry a bum bag , or buy a tweety size tank bag ...to put all the little day to day stuff you might want on any ride...including visor wash, wallet, phone etc...

I was hoping to avoid such things  , I'm going to look into removing the EXUP actuator and putting the PC  there, that would be a good tidy solution

Do what i did and sell the PC3 and buy the smaller PC-V
