need a new pushbike

It looks good value with hybrid size wheels, but quality bikes depreciate like a brick, so myself I would check cycling weekly or even local paper for something with a quality group set and wheels, seems a biggish bike are you tall? Myself i like to put a bike together out of chosen bits , but you payes yer money etc

i am big ish 6'2" and on the rotund side . been made redundant so not working yet. i will be in work when i get back from turkey in a couple of weeks.

A new bike for £200 will not be strong enough for a big lad,,you will bend the wheels pretty quick.


Also you will need one with a cassette rear hub as they are four times stronger than the screw on cog type.


Building one up from parts will be very expensive,


If you know what bike is what then second hand is the way,,best i would do is check good private shops for px bikes.


New you should not go less than about £350 as it will have cassette rear wheel and sealed bearings,stainless spokes,twin wall rims,


Considering tyres less than£18 each are crap,and a rear wheel is £50 you aint gonna get much new bike for £200.


And yes a hybrid would be good. 700c wheels but a mountain bike could be ok,just a bit low at the front.

As an old Raliegh seved him well for years, a £200 should do very nicely, though I'd get down to the shops and buy one there rather than buying blindly online

i dont mind the look of some mountain bikes but i would need to change the tyres for something more road focused. a mate of mine has just bought this and got a set of smoother tyres to put on. i haven't seen it in the flesh yet so im not sure if i would like it or not   http://www.decathlon.co.uk/rockrider-52-id_8156187.html#more_infos i will have a spin on it next time i go round

I've not long bought a cycle,i got mine through a friend as i think that  the price of a decent bike is stupid money,I paid £20 for a Saracen mountain bike that is in very good condition.it has an aluminium frame,wheels & handlebar/stem set, also has rapid fire gears.

700c wheels will probably suit road work better, lots of cheep bikes out there , just be sure to check the  frame size and spec of the parts

Bought a hybrid for the wife for a similar price a couple of years ago. It is a giant crs, i think the range is now called 'escape'. It is all good qualify, no nonsense kit. The end of season sales should be starting soon, usually 10 to 20% off.
