My FZS1
« on: 03 August 2012, 07:59:55 am »

As it came,,quite pleased with the high Givvi screen.

Thought i would start by cleaning all that crap white grease off the chain and check front sprocket.

Covered in grease,,crap all under the front sprocket

All clean ready for lube,,sprocket seems ok,,tab washer is good. :)

Yes ,thanks,,i have had it for three weeks now,

i have drained about a pint and a half of oil out as it was over full, quite clean oil,no water.I guess it was topped up while on the side stand, when the bike is upright it went up over the sight glass.Fools :o

I like the short pipe too, well smart.

I have to say I had a minor flush of embarressment looking at your pictures. Your front sprocket image captioned 'covered in grease, crap etc' looks exactly like my chain and front sprocket after I've cleaned it.

lol!

As with my VFR  a new to you bike is an uncertainty,

so you just go right through it checking all the things that should be checked and then you have some idea of what you have bought.

Next up oil n filter and air filter.

Then start removing bolts and greasing and reassembling. You ever tried to undo the bolts on the light switches, throttle control etc after 10 years,,you would have wished some one would of stripped them and greased them before they seized.

Yes i am pleased with the blue and black,,quite smart====but i quite fancy a white with red, black decals repaint in the winter,,an indoor project.

Well i have nearly done 200 miles now,,you know when you change bikes, especially to a different seating position, like the upright of the Fazer

, it feels faster at 100 plus than it did on the vfr ,

Anyhow, yesterday evening, roads dry , a nice little 20 mile spin,,let the animal loose, WoW  :evil :lol :eek

does it go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :evil :lol    these bikes are awesome,,the push goes on until you want it to stop, for a moment when i looked at the speedo i thought it must be in KPH, but no MPH 1-- and going,,

What i have noticed is when i went out onto the main road i gave it some, the front wheel was coming up in 2,3,4th gears and i had to back the throttle off , shiiiitttttt.

Cant wait til i ride out with my make on his GSXR1000 , will be a laugh.

I have sofened the front springs, backed off the compression and rebound by 2 clicks, on the rear i have backed the damping off by 2 clicks,,
it is still lifting me off the seat on our lovely A roads, a bit up and down at speed,,but this i guess is down to the spring being too hard for an 11 stone muscle man, haha :rolleyes .

Anyhow it feels great and i am smiling more and more.

That is my dream bike, paint scheme and all! One I will be able to afford the insurance to own one! I currently ride a box eye 600 :)

Is the FZ1S comfy? As the riding position looks like dirt bike style (nuts on tank and knees up high)

I was surprised how upright the riding position is, i have not done any long runs yet so dont know how it will be, the bars are high and wide, certainly different from my vfr.

So far seems ok,, it feels faster as you are sat up more so hopefully slow me down.

Certainly comfy and fast as f--k. great awesome fun to open it out.The front wheel keeps coming up.haha :lol

Yep, beautiful,,look at them curves :eek ,, the rear swing arm is a work of art,, i dont know if you Gen1 riders have looked at it but its not like that piece of box alloy from the scrap bin that you have.

Are you referring to seat comfyness or seating position,?

I do alot of long rides , 300 miles in an after noon no problem , but not yet on this bike yet so cant confirm what its like being quite upright,

i hope its as good as the vfr.
