Happy Saint George's Day
« on: 23 April 2012, 12:41:41 am »
Just a wee post to wish all you English buggers Happy Saint George's Day.
Hopefully you all have lashings and lashings of ginger beer to hand and the weather in Englandshire holds out.
:D

Thanks both. Luckily we're not as backward about immigration as the other union countries and coincidently / subsequently we're richer :)

Doubt if the weather will hold out though.

Thank you.
I was asking the landlord of our local the other day why historically the English make a bigger deal of celebrating St Patrick's day than they do St Georges Day.  He said that in the old days of license extensions councils could easily give an extension for Paddy, but there were all sots of hoops to get through for George so landlords didn't bother.  Hence St Paddys day became a p1ss up and Georges was forgotten.  Strange.  I think Guinness has a lot to do with it as well.
