Replace boxeye fairing with Foxeye?
« on: 27 May 2020, 12:51:06 pm »
Hi Foccers
Will a Foxeye front fairing fit straight on to a Boxeye bike.... :rolleyes ???
I want to replace my wrecked fairing...last weeks storm blew it over (again) so it's really in bits now. :'(
I will have to replace the lights as well....how difficult...?
 :rollin
New replacement boxeye fairing on Ebay for €100 is pretty good...have to spray it but still...

No, you need to modify.

IIRC you will need the brackets, lamp frame and infill panels too

It has been covered in detail on here in the past so a search might find it. As well as the fairing you obviously need the headlamp. From memory you also need the front mounting bracket that attaches to the steering head part of the frame. The small brackets on the side of the frame are in a different position so you need to make some adapter brackets to match up to the fairing side/rear fixing points. Some wiring work with relays is also needed to suit the twin dip and twin main beam arrangement with the foxeye light. A wiring diagram for this is in the details previously shown that i mentioned. A major advantage is a vast improvement in the lights. I think i still have detail photo's if a search on here isn't successful.
The bike in the phot with the foxeye fairing is a 1998 model.

This is a link to the details i mentioned. It's a bit lengthy with quite a lot of questions and answers and photo's so should cover everything you need.
Happy to help if i can but it's several years ago that i did the mod. http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,5252.0.html

If it helps I recently replace the front fairing with one of those off Ebay.  I did like for like Boxeye.  Good quality.  The only thing you'll notice is the inside is rough fibreglass as opposed to smooth.

Do note Fowler's will sell you a genuine Box eye fairing fully painted for £240. Though I think they've only a few colours still available.
The FoxEye fairing is only about £220 new, fully painted, and note it is shared with the FZS1000, ditto headlight cluster.

I just noticed this post Arfa - are you sure about the Fox Eye fairing - we have both a Fox Eye 600 and a FZS 1000 and the fairings are definitely not the same ??

Ah, yes you are right. It's just the head light cluster and mirrors that are common. Cowling - is not.
