Thing is a lot of those titles were won against manx nortons,G50's,patons,Jawas' etc when the Japs pulled out,Agostini had very little competition for a good few years and when he did he'd struggle against the likes of Saarinen and when Phil Read started beating him after joining MV he was soon on his way.As far as I'm concerned his best days were the sixties when he had some great battles with Hailwood,Read,Ivy,etc, but one of the greatest? on paper maybe but I don't think he deserves to be classed amongst the really great, great riders.Imo he showed his true colours when he shafted Eddie Lawson when he was riding for Marlboro,Eddie asked Ago if the deal was going to be the same as last season and he said they'd pulled the funding and it was going to be a struggle to find funds, what he didn't know was Eddie was well in with the main man at Marlboro and when he questioned it he was told there was no problem with the funding and couldn't understand what Ago was on about, turns out Ago was creaming off the top and wanted to get Lawson as cheap as possible.Eddie jumped ship and won again,a proper great.IMO
