Blimey I've heard it all now, the Loud Pipes Police.

Would you ride around with your thumb stuck on the horn button all the time?

No? Why not? If loud pipes make you safer, surely sounding a loud horn constantly will make you safer too...

Sounds stupid? You're right, it is. Maybe now you'll see the point.

I like my bikes to sound like bikes for my enjoyment, not from a "loud pipes saves lives" point of view. It's easy enough to roll through a village in a high gear so as not to piss off the locals.

What has gone wrong here is that robbo has fallen victim to the dreaded "quote bracket" mess up. I belive all robo posted was this
Blimey I've heard it all now, the Loud Pipes Police.
In responce to grahamm saying loud pipes do not make you safer. As far as I can see Grahamm is actually the only person to mention any reference to pipes and safety. (apart from me who used it as an excuse to repost a photoshop image that I made some time ago )
But in responce to this Blimey I've heard it all now, the Loud Pipes Police. This whole thread was started precisely because police are looking at introducing "acoustic cameras" to catch loud exhausts aka - Loud Pipes Police

It's either that or he's fallen victim to a misplaced condescending lecture ;)

Told you I was crap at technology :rollin :rollin . Just never thought I'd hear someone on a bike forum moan about the loudness of exhausts. I expect it's an age thing as I got into bikes when the Gold Star ruled the roost. A few of them would make Loomies sound like the local womens knitting circle's weekly get together. :lol

What I'd like to know is how these cameras would work on say a group ride when there are 10-12 bikes all grouped together and maybe 2 of them are running straight pipes... how would they narrow that down?
Also what DB would they be set to as (using cars as an example) a Ford focus is very quiet where as a Subaru Impreza is stupidly loud even though they if they are stock

My bike made 98db when it was last tested on a track day and that was at 4000rpm with the baffle in on a street legal pipe 🤔
