6 sided socket Advice

Yep its mainly for the front sprocket swing arm and 17mm suspension mounts. By the time I have brought 3 single its only a few quid more to get a 14 socket kit.

I wouldn't worry about the 6/12 sided thing for smaller nuts/bolts they shouldn't be that tight.

Tell that to the front caliper bolts on my FZ6

My lower clutch adjusting nut in the sprocket cover was totally wrecked by a 12 sided socket, i couldn't believe how soft the nut was. I only nip it up these days as well, but i still use a 6 sided socket on it as it tends to tighten itself up over time and needs a good crack to undo it.

When I used to do welding at a garage most of the mechanics there had Snap on cabinets full of cracking tools and I used to blag some of the older ones off them because they were really fanatical and would replace good tools just because they were a bit worn,anyway over the years Ive collected 2 cabinets and a couple of tool boxes full of pretty much everything youd need the thing is over the last few years Ive noticed that whether its on the bike or car I never seem to use more than a handful of the same tools over and over,I swear I could get by with a 3/8 drive socket set,a few Torx bits,allen keys,some heavy tools etc.It makes me wonder whether it was worth buying and collecting all those tools,I think Ive got 2or3 1/2 inch drive socket sets,5 or 6 metric ring and combi spanner sets etc,etc, then the other day I was putting some rear pads on my daughters car and had to buy a large Torx socket!!! it makes you wonder how many of these old tools will be any good on modern cars in the future don't it ?

Well yeah, it's not gonna be long before lots of us are driving electric cars.Torx? Still got my Britool Torx bit set I bought almost 30 years ago. 
Needed them to change the cyclinder head gasket on my then Cavalier SRi, the replacement head bolts to my surpise and annoyance were Torx.One of those wee sets of bits I only ever use once in a blue moon.
Oh Britool used to be top notch, but like a lot of tool producers they have been bought over, and now it's just a name - don't think the qulaity is there anymore.

Still got my Gedore AF/Whitworth set that I got 51 years ago. Used the sliding 1/2" drive T-bar earlier in the week. Having said that, there's a metal box deep under my workbench which has become the graveyard for most of my AF, Whitworth and BA sized tools.

The 10mm and other small ones look very strong - they all do actually.

Absolutely ideal, good choice. You can use them with an impact gun as well which is a bonus.

I saw that earlier too, it looks a very comprehensive set. I think it has every size of sockets and ratchets and bars  1/4  3/8 1/2 £69 and spanners and torx.

So - my set has a 32mm socket - great I can use it on the front sprocket. But the socket is too short and the torque wrench hits the side of the frame. PISS, I only realise after applying loctite 620and starting to tighten, quickly runs to my extension bar, luckily near by because I was using it the hammer the old tab washer back. So for once using a tool for the wrong purpose paid off
