exup spacer missing
« on: 07 April 2012, 11:59:33 am »
Hi All

looking for a bit of help , i recently bought 03  fazer thou
so i was getting the error code for exup valve when ignition turned on ( rev counter going to 700rpm)
so found that exup valve was seized
so i striped it down and  greased it all up now moving freely with hand
but when i tightened up all bolts to torque setting found that valve was very hard to move
so i took it out again i found that the spacer was missing

( see spacer on this pic, red arrow pointing to it in pic r/h top )
http://www.cartestsoftware.com/fz1/images/exupmaintenance05.jpg
and first part on left in this pic http://www.cartestsoftware.com/fz1/images/exupmaintenance04.jpg

so i want to make a spacer for it

so my Questions are
is this spacer the same diamater as the bushing thats inside it
what i mean is , is the outer diamater larger than the bushing thats inside it
( this bushin doesnt normaly come out when valave removed its not in any pics

thanks for any info kerb

I've just stripped mine out this afternoon  :)

The spacer is 15mm outside diameter and 4mm thick and is made from stainless I think as its not magnetic!

Check carefully inside the exhaust because the first time I stripped mine out I had the same thing and thought it was missing but on closer inspection I found it inside. It had dropped off when I pulled the valve out.

After I had found it I struggled a bit to get it back and that is how I know its not magnetic!

If you don't find it I would check the diagram again I think its the bush that's £35 not the spacer!

Good luck!

cheers Joe that's a great help
i will check this out tomorrow
the reason the spacer is 35 pounds to me is cause I'm including postage to ireland

as you  say maybe its inside cause i just stuck a long magnet in there ( thinkin it was magnetic )
i will report back
