how long a stints did you ride for? at what speeds ie wind buffering?
when I ride for distance I take my lid off when refuelling but I suppose it also depends on where / how you slept.. could it be how you slept rather than riding for days?

First 2days motorway/A9 then all a/b roads, up tp 2hrs at a time, the longer i ride the shorter the stints...end up having to stop for 10 every hour or less. P'raps I'm just old....

Yse me too and its because I don't get out as often as I want and so the next day I can feel that my neck has done some work - my cure is to ride more.

The neck ache was the reason I bough my original FZS600. At 90mph you knew you were going faster than you were meant to. The previous bike was an FZR1000 Genesis which did 150mph without you realising. Neck ache is worth more than a speeding ticket :pokefun

What screen do you have? Standard or a double bubble one? And how tall are you?

A DB screen can sometimes add to the problem as it can move the blast from your chest to your head.

I'm 5'7" and 12 st ish. I have an MRA screen, still trying to work out best angle.

I think Sharpie's right - the cure is to ride more. However, that wasn't possible at the time so I found a treatment -
TigerBalm (for them wot don't know - and I didn't - it's rub on deep heat stuff, cheap at Sainsbury's) applied liberally to the shoulders and neck, and paracetamol. That did the trick, especially coming home (Nairn - Carlisle - Cambridge)

(NB see 'what did you do with your Fazer')

That was probably related to the people you were sharing your room with rather than the bike though :pokefun

How is your riding position and posture? Do you relax your shoulders?
We often unknowingly tense up which causes all sorts of pains.

I reckon I was as relaxed as I could be given that I was riding in heavy rain (30 years since I did that!) through the Scottish Grampians up then down the A9 and then coming back the last section down the M6/A66 from Carlisle in rain and wind and then A1 in a strong cross wind. There were still 2 up tourers coming past me in the mountains at the legal max (ahem) but that would have scared the ****out of me, well out of my comfort zone.  Methinks more riding required, maybe an IAM course..
