I bought my bike without it. Years later I discovered it exists, so I went for the stupid ring to a Yamaha dealer. They gave my a too large one, for 5€  :eek . It didn't fit well so my bike is working without it again.

The O ring is 2.5mm dia section and 27mm inside dia. You might get one from a car accessory shop. They usually have a box with a large selection of sizes in it and will probably charge from 10 pence to 50 pence. If they don't have the exact size but have a larger one with 2.5mm section, you can cut the appropriate length out (with a razor blade) and glue the ends together with super glue. I certainly wouldn't pay the Yamaha price  :eek  for a simple O ring.

Thanks Limax. I have found the damn 5€ ring. It is the correct size, so it is my fault, I tightened the cap too hard! I thought it could be lost otherwise. I am going to put the o-ring again...

Edit:
Yes, I am such a great mechanic! :wall The cap border is even a bit cracked, still useable, but wtf!

Back to the god old bearing supplier, agricultural engineers are good for stuff like that too, car shops and bike dealers are always the last stop for me.
