Dropped the bike embarrasingly :-(

I went out to do the picture challenge today with the aim of getting the lovely village sign at Biddenden.  I decided to stop off along the way with the intention of getting all the signs on the way and making a montage.  Sadly I got as far as Sutton Vallance.  I pulled off the road, parked up on the path and took the photo. Back on the bike, decided to paddle the bike across the grass verge back onto the road and sadly the front wheel slipped when it touched the grass and down we went at the grand speed of 1mph.  I've snapped the wing mirror, but that needed replacing anyway.  The indicator popped out, no biggy.  But I've reopened an old repair on the fairing 
All this comes at the end of a shit week where me and the missus were discussing how the foc we're going to afford the next 3 months with a barage of big bills.    The bike will have to wait a fair while to be repaired now, I suspect next year from a financial point of view, it's always been a luxuary for me, other bills take priority, sadly.

It's a bugger when that happens     Dropped mine on the Port de la Bonaigua, a high pass in the Pyrenees, a few weeks ago - parked up in neutral...on a mountain pass...doh! Fortunately, only minor scuffs and a bent handlebar (which has actually made it more comfortable to ride!). Which is just as well, as I can't afford repairs either. Running on a strict budget now, to the point where any rides have to be very worth it, and carefully considered from a financial point of view. In fact, if I'm honest, I can't really afford to run a vehicle at all now, unless I can crack the problem of what the hell I'm going to do for work.


Been in this situation a few times in my life, and usually I'd just sell the bike and go without until things improve, but this time, I can't bring myself to sell the Fazer - it's the perfect set-up for me, and we've done too much together!

We have all done it and what is so frustrating is how much damage a little drop can do, even a "controlled" where you are taking most of the weight.
As I feel partly responsible as it was my challenge you are doing (and I don't forget those who have helped me in the past  ) I am going out to buy a lottery ticket and if I win all the jackpot I will pay for the damage.

I dropped mine in the bloody garage the other day. Drove in, popped into Neutral. Put down the side stand and stepped off. Just as I lent the bike to the stand I heard the familiar "ping" of the stand springing back up. By that time it was a too late!!! Took all the paint of the yamaha branded engine cover. Thankfully that was all.

Felt awful though, like when you accidentally hurt your missus and she cries...she says it's ok...but deep down you know its not!

I've touched the paint up since.

WHAT -- am I not quite reading that right. You hurt the missus and then touch her up and then she says its all right.

I am now in the habit of giving the stand an extra little kick forward to make sure its out.
At least you have made an effort to put it out, I once leant the bike to rest on the stand that I had not put out and did this in front of a shop window full of women looking at this biker who had just pulled up.

Sharpie is a tight wad, he could sell an acre or two from Sharp Hall Estate and would not even notice the reduction in size, it would still take his team of 7 gardeners 5 days to cut the front lawn.

I did that years ago in a town centre but i was trying to park as close as i could to a wall so got pinned against it for a few seconds

My last bike was a 929 FireBlade and i popped around a friends house. I had to do a U turn in the road so with both feet down i proceeded to do the manoeuvre  with my little feet padding on the road. As i was half way around the right peg hero blob caught in the top of my boot and dragged my boot pushing the sole into the tarmac. The boot gripped harder causing the boot to stay put as the bike still rolled forward.  Bike was leaning over slightly  but now there was no leg to support it and ever so slowly the bike and the stumpy pilot toppled over. Much to the hilarity of all the spectators.  Resulting in a cracked fairing and various scratches elsewhere.

My route out of town in the mornings involves a fairly tight T - junction which at 5.30am never has any traffic coming from the left (one way)........until one one morning. I was on the mighty Tiger and at 2-3mph had to stop when seeing the car with a slight turn on the bars. Foot went down straight onto a plastic bag and the big brute and the Tiger went down slowly and gracefully like the Titanic. Really pissed off with myself I heaved it slowly back up and threw it straight over onto the other side having forgotten to put the side stand down. Even at 5.30am you just know someone was wetting themselves behind a curtain......

Had my Fazer just a few weeks, after being away from motorcycles about 30 odd years.
,Pulled up at a T Junction (Rural area) slightly uphill my turn was to the right had stopped and noticed a lady jogger approaching from my right, being a gentleman I waved her across in front of me, not wishing to interrupt her fitness regime, and also wishing to check out her arse in those very tight skimpy black leggings, she smiled and jogged across in front of me, bars to the right head and body cranked as far left as it is possible, slowly but surely the bike fell to the right dragging me right over the top of the bike and I ended up laying on my back on the other side of the bike, right hand still gripped around the throttle, stalled engine thankfully.
The jogger came running back after hearing the crash as I went down and she helped me get the bike back up right again she asked me if I was alright and was there anything she could do? I kept my mouth shut

These are great! Made my day! On my first mod2 ride. Had ridden about 7 miles on a nice twisty a road and stopped at a picnic area for a brew and a break. Got chatting to a guy on a big gixxer..i felt cool, I felt like a biker. Setting off, suitably refreshed, calmly waving to my new biker friend....I acidentally dumped the clutch, shot forward, legs flapping behind me trying to stay calm and think through the situation "oh look a brick built toilet block wall....stop looking at the wall....STOP LOOKING AT THE WALL!!! I managed to stop just feet away. Breathing heavily, hands and legs trembling I but the bike in the neutral and had a little sit. The instructor  (on coms) pulled up along side and calmly said "what the fuck was that?! Have you finished? Right at the end of the road were turning right. Twat." And off he rode.......

Thanks, but not sure I need them. As mentioned, the bent ones are actually more comfortable for my dodgy arm (less reach), and cosmetically, it's not all that obvious. They're not kinked, so not worried about their strength. Are bent handlebars an automatic MOT fail, even if they don't trap hands or touch the tank on full lock?

Out with an IAM Observer, I missed spotting his indicator and carried on, only to realise he wasn't behind me.

So I decided to to a U Turn.

On a hill...

Got halfway round and the bike topples over and me and it land in an inglorious heap.

Fortunately a driver stopped helped me pick it up, then went down the hill to let the Observer know whilst I sat there nursing a bruised wrist and injured pride
