I turned over a new leaf this morning.

My boss at the Nissan garage was furious.

Ordered some stuff online, to be delivered by the courier company Hermes.
Get a text, delivery between 10am and 12pm.
Then i notice my work company name missing from the address! But, we are the only company in our road with that postcode, so should be fine?
Next day, another text "Problem with delivery"?
Next day, another text, this time with the full company address on.
Two days later a text saying "Delivery between 11am and 1pm" (today)
Just got another text saying "You weren't there" at a building with 24hr security.
New delivery now on Monday.

£6 to speak to someone with an 09 number.
£6 to complain, with an 09 number.

So i thought I'd try Live Chat, and it's a robot, telling me I wasn't there.

F**k you, Hermes  :grumble

Yodel are worse for me. They tend to let you know when it will delivered about an hour AFTER they have delivered it.

Whenever I find out that it will be a Yodel delivery I only give it a 50/50 chance of turning up at all.

Right now my Hermes package has been driving around London for the last 4 days, but at least it is in the vicinity.

You shouldn't need to phone a premium rate number.
Look them up on here: https://www.saynoto0870.com/companysearch.php

Link didn't work, but i looked at the app, went to install it to give it a go and it virtually wanted access to all parts of my phone? So I gave it a miss.

The parcel will arrive on Monday anyway, but it is frustrating.

It's not quite as good as it used to be in the days when it cost silly money to phone up an 0870 number before companies were required to have a basic phone rate contact number which let them profit of you calling them to sort out a problem!

It's still handy for alternative contact numbers or getting to speak with companies that do their damndest to resist you getting in touch with them at all!

To be honest I'm not a fan of talking on the phone, I much prefer putting things in writing so for me a phone call is a very last resort.

Like when I end up calling an Insurance Company and they then rabbit at a hundred miles an hour and ask you loads of questions.
This is the reason why I do stuff online, to avoid people like that.

People aren't named Lance much these days.

But in the olden days, people were named Lance a lot.

Chinese rocket stage due to uncontrollably re enter earths atmosphere this weekend.
Rocket scientists say.

"We're hopeful that it will land in a place where it won't harm anyone. Hopefully in the ocean, or someplace like that."

Hopefully- someplace like that

There are *way* too many variables that have to be accounted for to give a precise location, the resistance of the atmosphere, high altitude winds, how the vehicle will tumble and break up on re-entry etc.

The best that they can do with a reentry that is under some sort of control (eg the deorbit of the Mir space station) was to warn shipping in a corridor that was IIRC something like 1000 miles long and 300 miles wide which is about the same size as Great Britain!
