time to give it up?

I am passing another significant birthday this year, but am wondering at what age would you consider giving up biking - or when does it become too difficult?

I will be 50. I wanted to get a thou as a sort of b'day present, but that's on hold now, given the insurance premiums etc till at least June.

I was curious about the age as I wondered when do you give up?

Agree the above although it sounds more like my sex life    , on the age thing look at  John Surtees he's what 84ish and I bet he could still whip some younger riders on the track, insurance not too bad I'm 50 and pay £155 fully comp from bennetts.

50 here too and insurance is £86 or something fully comp for the 600
When you were asking I thought your were going to be 90 or something, I cant even belive you are thinking like that, get the 600 for the lower insurance and move to the 1000 once you have some NCD under your belt

My dad is 68 and riding an FZS600 now. I'm 48 and riding a Tiger 900i and a CBF1000. Neither of us intend to give up till we can no longer hold a bike up.

I wasn't quite planning upon giving up now, but was wondering as to when I may just hang up my boots. I have tried a couple of times in the past, but for some reason don't like being without a bike

I'm 70 and a lifetime motorcyclist.Camped at the Dragon rally last month.Just bought a Scotland map today to plan a NC500 camping trip around May/June time and will do some sort of European camping trip later in the year,maybe the Bol d'Or again. Having a mediocre pension is what holds me back from doing more bike orientated trips. Riding wise my night time eyesight is my only limitation mainly due to oncoming glare causing missed overtaking opportunities.Still,if in doubt,hold back

55 and hope to be riding for a good while yet.
Once the 1000 get's to heavy I'll just look at something smaller, hope I never have to give up to be honest.

55 here too and Bursitis in my right shoulder meant the FZ1S was too heavy for me. Sold that last year and bought a MT09 Tracer.....much lighter and a fun bike.............I love it. Giving it all up was never an option.

Me, heart attack at 41 a stroke at 48 knee replacement two years ago 55 now,  give up not as long as I can get my leg over the old girl

I've given up giving up because when I give up I realise that I miss what I have given up so I un-give up. So the answer is don't give up.

I will keep riding as long as health and money allows, its my hobby 


My dad stopped riding at 82 due to ill health, but misses it ( we shared our FZS1000 as I work abroad most of the year). Unfortunately, even though he has recovered enough to ride a lighter bike, his short term memory is now shot and he has to have someone with him when he is driving, otherwise he forgets where he is going or what he went out for.
