DIY service log?
« on: 04 January 2017, 11:09:08 am »
Hi

Time to get started on servicing the "new to me" thou and as it did not come with a service history, does anyone have a spread sheet / Word document type thing I can use to keep track of my servicing? It's a 13 year old, ~40k mile bike, so not going to bother getting it dealer serviced for "resale" reasons, but do want to keep track of what I've done. Also, I can staple receipts for parts to the document to prove at least I've taken care of it!

If not, I guess I'll just print out from the service manual, write down the milage and tick the things off as I do them, but assume someone's created something I can steal!

cheers

Markie

PS I won't ask what oil people are using :)

I simply keep a running log on word document for my vehicles. Task, date and mileage is all I need but it is useful as a reminder for things like coolant changes which I would otherwise forget which I did and when.
I record most things like tyres, oil changes, coolant, hydraulic fluid etc etc.
I also record part numbers when I remember, which can be useful at a later date when trawling auction sites!

Same as posted by dickturpin for me. i.e. on a word document. I take a print of it now and then just to keep my paper copy up to date. I keep it all in a loose leaf folder with the receipts and any other info in those plastic envelope things. If I stapled them to a sheet of paper as you suggest I would have a sheet of steel by now!  Whichever way you choose to keep a record it is well worth while as it is easy to forget later when you did something , especially if you look after more than one bike.
