You probably are very weird but that's nothing to do with the choice of bike you prefer.

Sorry I gotta come out on the side of the big old girl, its the thou for me , I've got both sizes and bigger is better but on the question of weirdness it don't matter you own both sizes of Fazer of course you are not weird , :D

now if the question was that you prefered a bandit that would be a different answer

I've had a couple of weeks living with the 600, and it's an excellent bike, to the point I wasn't in a hurry to get mine back from repairs it was undergoing at the time. But I did miss the lazy power of the thou, and the stonk on opening the throttle in any gear at any revs, and was glad when I got it back. So for me, it's the thou that wins.

To be fair it depends on your riding style and where you ride. If your riding around twisty 40-60mph roads and you like to wind it on a bit then the 600 will be the much more enjoyable bike. If your a motorway rider or you like lazy power and loads of torque then the 1000 will be better.
I do miss my 600 occasionally just because I could wind it wide open it most gears where as with my 1000 it's just too powerful to play around with (for me personally anyway. I'm sure some of you guys thrash your 1k)
I couldn't honestly say I prefer 1 over the other, would be nice to be in your position where you get to choose depending how you feel.

For sure it is a case of horses for courses but my riding on a daily basis is a mixture of street and A road.
I love the torque of the though but find it easier to hustle the 600.
 It which one is best.
There's only one way to find out.

For 11 years I had a 1998 RRW Blade, at one point during that time I acquired a 1999 CBR600FX, the Blade didn't get a look in again until the 600 was sold for a huge profit. I loved that 600, 170mph on the clocks in the dark, handled way better than the Blade, smoother, sounded just as good as the Blade, which, I may add, I continued to throw money at in the hope it would handle like an SRAD, it never did. But the FX handled as good as an SRAD, without all the Maxton bling and 17"wheels which the Blade enjoyed.

Oi.... :foc . Got a '58 650 which I prefer to my 600 Fazer..........but ONLY 'cos it gives my 6'4" lump more spade over a longer distance so I reckon it depends on the type of riding Kenbob does. Reckon I'd prefer the 600 over the thou for a blast but the thou for longer distance. Just my 2p.

Agree its all about how you ride and what you use the bike mainly for. 600 for me.
I did look very seriously into the 1000 but came to the conclusion that a 1000 is better at two up -- which I don't do, long touring - don' do and faster in a straight line but Im not interested in straight lines either. Which leaves us short blasts and the corners and bends. I just don't think my 10 stone (wet + Sunday dinner ) would get the bigger and heavier 1000 round the bends like on the 600.

I've got the 600 and never ridden a thou, but when I read about the seized exup valves, need to remove the AIS, and Ivanising, I welcome the 'simplicity' of the 600. Sort out the suspension and put a K&N air filter in and you are flying. Only problem I find at 5'11 is it's physically a bit small. I've got two other bigger bikes, but the Fazer 600 continues to be my fave. Like a comfy pair of old slippers :-)

I prefer the 600 gearbox too, much smoother.

Well I have never ridden the 1K but I love the retro look of the Gen1 am seriously thinking about it, seizing up Exups and all.
But with saying that I would never get rid of my FZS 600 even with the quirks on the handling front.
(I'm in the process of sorting that)
But the 600 is great on the back lanes and roads, not too heavy and accelerates nicely between bends, power is not too harsh and the blue spot front brakes are brilliant on the lighter 600, OK back brake leaves a bit to be desired, but, I understand that the blue spot 1K back brake caliper fits, maybe when I have finished my suspension project.
Everyone seems to think that going down the Renthal bars route is also worth while by adding a bit off leverage, is this fact or fiction I ask, do all the cables and switches and lever and throttle twist grip still fit.

I have both also and find the 600 easier to handle and live with. but like the shear poke of the 1000

Was reading this yesterday, and whilst walking around at work with a 19kg monitor in each arm, i realised 19kg added to my daily ride really wouldn't be appreciated in traffic every day.
It is mainly a commuter so does everything necessary, with a bit of extra fun if ever needed.
Nearly bought a 1000 a couple of years back, but the extra weight, more expensive parts, insurance, etc, just for the sake of it, made no sense at all.
Add to that, i have a bike resembling Triggers broom, i've done so much to it to meet my standards, i simply couldn't be arsed to do it all over again.
