Fitted new clocks, speed seems to be optimistic.

Hi All,


Fitted second hand to my FZ1. I don't know if they came off an FZ1, but every thing works, except the speed is reading over. From my gut feeling I would say 30% over. Any one got any ideas? or know if it can be easily adjusted? Thanks.

Not being funny but are you sure you have selected mph and not kph on the speedo?

that's weird, you'd think it would be the same.

if it were just erractic, then it'd be the usual check the connector terminals.

Perhaps youll have to fit a speedohealer and calibrate the numbers down?

 could be a different size sprocket . were the originals modded in any way.

Thanks for the replies lads, I'm pretty sure every thing is standard on the bike. The seller told me the clocks came off a 2010 bike. I'm going to 'calibrate' them with a satnav to confirm my suspicions!

Not being funny but are you sure you have selected mph and not kph on the speedo?

I remember how shocked I was after fitting an Optimate lead, switching on the ignition and discovering my odometer reading showing a massive increase.....

Tested the clocks today against a speedo app on the phone. When I'm doing 50kph the clocks are reading 90kph, at least now I know I'm not losing my marbles   Anybody know if there are any subtle differences between the earlier of later models or the N and S which could result in this?

No, I have a digital speedo, it's set to KPH, when on MPH it's out by the same amount as aswell.....
