Seats and rubbers.........
« on: 21 August 2016, 02:12:32 pm »
After many hours of perving at newer and flasher bikes, I still can't find anything to replace my Gen 1.  (138 rwhp, Kenny Roberts paint, maxton suspension).

But she's looking a bit tired in parts.
Namely, saddle, footrest rubbers, grips, and the braided steel brake lines have got surface rust.  Oh, and the Akrapovic's carbon fibre is looking tatty.

Any bright ideas for seat refurb/replacement and new exhaust can?

I've got a set of LSL rearsets that would go nicely on that one.  Might be the same KR bike that was in my garage a few years ago.  2001 model with a slight ding in the tank by chance?

Saddle: model specific seat covers with a range of designs/colours/pipings are not expensive and easily ordered on eblag.
Footpeg rubbers: Fowlers parts supply oem rubbers cheap 'nuff.
Grips: if original replace with heated set for cheap update and useability.

I guess the brakelines thing is just replace with another set, unless you can clean them up somehow.

Brake lines, just replace as part of a full brake service. http://www.helperformance.com/yamaha-fzs1000-fazer-2001-2005

Seat, get a replacement cover from baglux: http://www.bagster.com/saddlery.html?cat=4119&vehicle=14695
You will need someone who has re-upholstered furniture to help you fit it properly but it is worth it.

Grips, I use Grip puppies: http://www.grip-puppy.co.uk/

Foot pegs: I would be interested in other peoples suggestions.

End Can: Get somebody to valet the bike?
