Indeed Dave. I was reading autoexpress online and they expect manufactuerers/importers etc to share the pain and not pass on the cost, but I figure - well how long will they do that for. They are getting squeezed.
Have a feeling that bike manufacturers & importers/main dealers are using the Volkswagen Group model of building only against firm customer order to maintain profitability & avoid swamping market with unsold new bikes @ end of season which only ties up cash & in fact costs money.
Not good news for any potential buyers looking for "bargains".
Who is the customer? Is it the importer, the dealer or us at the end of the line?
I just bought a Skoda a few months back, pre reg, 4mnths old, 22 miles on the clock and over 7k off the list price. If VAG were running the model you refer to, would I have bought it - no.
It looks like Yamaha have another winner with the MT10. Part of that is the price. Sure they don't want loads of stock lying around, but you can bet right now they'll do everything they can to churn out as many MT10's as they can.
Anyway time will tell with prices, but a strengthening pound would help.
Meanwhile we'll just have to put up with Dazza teasing us with his reports of what looks like a great bike.
