chain tension
« on: 04 May 2016, 10:48:29 pm »
After refitting my rear wheel my chain seems a  tad tight. I would say somewhat less than one inch play in the chain slack. Their seems to be a different sound hum vibration thing going on at the chain now too. My method was to put the adjusters to their original positions then nip up the rear shaft nut. Before nipping the chain play seems perfect...around an inch. Tightening the main nut on the rear shaft seems to be pulling in slack on the chain. Any tips gratefully appreciated.

Be patient and nip each side until you get it correct, the slack should be around 35mm.
The buzzing you're hearing is the chain rubbing a new path on the plastic chain guide.
It sounds much worse with a new chain.
Make sure the chain is well lubed and it will cut a new path after about a week or so of riding.
Nothing to worry about at all.
