Plenty of silicone blanking caps on eBay. Anyone know the internal diameter required for the airbox and carb hose?

Hi,

Pat's site has stuff about removing coolant, assume that's not needed but could be worth it?

The blanking caps, the have small grub screws to hold them on? What size and fitment? I have ordered some high temp silicone too.

Removing coolant is not strictly needed but removing the radiator makes the job easier, that's how I did mine using the same logic as you that it was probably worth it anyway. I think the grub screws were an m4 on the ones I had.

Hi, sorry to be coming late to the party.

Thinking about removing my AIS from 2004 Fazer.

I have previously had a Leo Vince can on this bike and I loved the popping and banging I used to get on closing the throttle.
I bought a MIVV for it, and the Leo Vince went back onto my Gixxer. The popping pretty much stopped, but the MIVV looked better.

However, I'm looking at putting the Leo Vince back on the Fazer.

Question is, if I remove the AIS, will the popping and banging stop?

Does anyone have the diameter for the airbox plug or a part number? I got the smaller ones for the Carb 4 intake.

Hi Tefer,
I made a note in my little black book when PieEater posted the part number info early last year, just haven't got around to removing my AIS yet.
Caps are #3 16G-13569-00(Plug blind) the clips to go with them are #4 90467-10039(Clip).Just use some high temp silicon on the spigots before sliding the caps on.

Thanks Robbo, thats the smaller plugs, i got a few of them and the clips for them, there is one needed for the airbox, it look sto be about 18mm but wanted to be sure before buying a plug.

Doh........ Just had a read back through all the posts and realised I hadn't answered your question as I forgot about the airbox. Hopefully someone will come back with the right info, as I'd certainly be interested. Nothing worse than starting a project only to be stuck for something quite simple.

I used a cap from one of Mrs PieEater's cosmetic bottles for mine and I let AndyW have the cap from my visor cleaner spray bottle to do his, just used some silicone on the inside to make sure the fit was airtight and some gaffer tape on the outside to make sure it stayed in place, both have been fine since. So bottom line is you'll probably have something suitable knocking around at home without having to buy anything special.

Been a while since I bought the blanking caps from Steve but have only just tried fitting them. Only one seems to fit. Have measured the inside diameter and the one that fits is 12.5mm and the three that don't are 12mm. Measured one of the outlet pipes and it is 12.3mm. The one that fits doesn't slide all the way down and seems to be slightly tapered internally. Looks like some fettling is required.... hey ho.

I had the same problem but some help from a lump hammer, Viking power & a lot of harsh language I got them fitted in the end. Let's just say they are never coming off !! Seems like they just needed that 0.2-0.3mm enlargement.

Hey guys. Just a quick question. I'm looking for a temporary solution, until I decide whether to completely remove the AIS or not. Would cutting the AIS vacuum hose connected to the carb inlet and blocking both holes with a screw disable the AIS, or not. Can anything go wrong/broke by just pluging that hose on both (cut) ends and not removing the AIS at the same time. I'm just looking to get rid of the popping sound on deceleration, and would like to see if it's worth buying the block off plates, as I already changed my spark plugs with AIS fitted.

Hi all, i was thinking of pulling of the AIS, i am ok with tapping and fitting bolts but had a thought, use exhaust goo and push in a 12mm spigot, will this work...............or is someone on here still selling removal kits?
