Snapped bleed valve - for foc sake!

One day, I'll post something in this section that goes along the lines of "whooo hooo, I've just fixed something on my bike without focing it up" but that will never happen so I'll just post my normal foc up woes.


Having changed my brake leavers for cheap chinese ones and as a result having to change my master cylinder because the one that was on there wasn't a Fazer one I finally got round to bleeding my brakes today.


The nipples looked nicely rusted up so I applied some penetrating spray, making sure I didn't get any on the brakes themselves!


One nipple turned eventually the other snapped!!!  Story of my life with this bike.  A simple job turns into a nightmare.


OK foccer font of knowledge, what the foc do I do now???  New caliper?

Banjo bolt with bleed nipple. I did this on a Z650 I had once. Had to unbolt the caliper to bleed it but other than that it worked well. Might save a bit of hassle in the short term?

You can bleed it though the banjo bolt itself but its a little messy

Iam with joe....bleeding at the bolt should be good enough to keep you on the road   ........not seen that banjo with the bleed nipple before, great idea and probs your best option.........bloody tricky boring whats left of the nipple out and no room for error and a  replacement caliper aint cheap...

thanks for sharing FERG...I have a couple of rear calipers in the shed with the same problem

How do you stop air getting back in if using the banjo bolt (without the bleed valve)?


I'm guessing, wrap lots of rag around the bolt to "catch" the fluid
Undo banjo bolt a bit
squeeze brake
do up bolt
release leaver


repeat

At least the snapped nipple has a 'pilot hole' so shouldn't be too difficult to drill out.

Is the hole big enough to get an EZ-out in. Get tons of penetrator fluid on it, all might not be lost!

have you split one of your spares to see if there is any bolt coming through to get a grip on with thin nose pliers?

hi MIDDEN.....not touched them yet,i bought them in an ebay bundle when i was trying to sort the stutter on my 600.....good shout,come the spring and lighter evenings i`ll sort them out and see what can be done,be nice to have a couple of working spares
