exup valve cables etc
« on: 27 February 2012, 12:10:29 pm »
(no mike not replaced them yet lol)

My exup cables have been snapped a while now and it looks as thought the valve is in shit state as all bolts etc either sheered or rusty as f0000k    but was wondering if this fits

R1 4xv (98-00) exup valve servo motor and cables???

thanks

Valve and all associated parts are the same as the Fazer, so is the servo motor.  However, the R1 servo cables are much shorter and won't fit the Fazer.

they are £173.33 inc vat http://www.yamahamotorcyclespares.co.uk/spares/partImage.asp?GPN=Z%3AQ%5B6685J5655&uid=0 or 157 euros from here http://www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-fzs1000nnc-2001_model10898/partslist/B-10.html but there will be carriage but a bit cheaper than buying from a local dealer

Sheesh!  I remember selling a brand new set of those for £50 about 2 years ago when the list price was under £90!  Wish I'd kept the damned things now. :(

I had mine repaired by Venhill in Dorking (£25 i recall) last year.  despite some other owners having had them repaired in the past and the "lugs" melting due to the heat at the valve.  Some 9 months later i'm still going strong and the bike is used every (working) day.

The put new cables into your linings.  With the price of new cables i tried the Venhill route and it's worked for me.  Even if it had only a short while it was worth it for the money paid out compared to a new set from Yamaha.
