Fazer 1 gen fzs1000 2002 Carbs flooding on start up

I wonder if you can help. Fazer fzs 1000 all of a sudden leaking petrol from carbs when starting up. Bike starts and fires on all cylinders? But the petrol keeps pouring out.

10mm o rings on the float needles go hard and fail, you will need to change all 4, you can only get these from yam if you buy a carb kit at £35 plus a carb! look on ebay for petrol resistant o rings 10 mm x 7 inside you can get ten for £3. common fault on fazers and early r1s i hear.

Is it from all 4 carbs? Strange that all 4  0 rings would fail at same time, might just be a stuck float on one carb.

Not disagreeing with you, as you say if you are replacing one best to do all them, but I had similiar problem on another bike I had  and it was just a stuck float, no idea why it stuck but stripped and cleaned the bank of carbs and problem disappeared.

yeah no what you mean could well be a float stuck, i tried draining the float bowl on the carb leaking the petrol while the carbs were still in place, no joy. so the carbs had to come off and id been told to check the o rings which it was. id been to europe the week before and i think the foreign fuel didnt help.
