Side stand engine cut out switch in more detail?
« on: 27 October 2015, 12:56:55 pm »
Tricky one to explain this, but here goes:
Should the side stand engine cut out switch - 1)stop the engine when bike's in gear (with clutch pulled in) when the side stand's down? OR   2)should the engine cut itself out at the moment when the clutch is let out - as you ride off (when the side stand's down)?

with stand down the cut out comes when you put it in gear-- clutch is already in to put it in gear - all ok until you go from neutral

So your option  (1) is correct

I agree with everyone else number 1 is right, however my Fazer wouldnt even start in neutral when the side stand was down so i disconnected the cut off switch and got my Dad (auto electrician and mechanic) to use it as an immobiliser for my alarm.
