traded the tuono in for a mt09 tracer, i was the proud owner of a 08 tuono for 4 weeks, which was probably 3 weeks too long
i traded it in at wigan yamaha for the tracer, now owned it for 3 weeks the ugly exhaust has gone and the more i ride it the better it gets :)if you get the chance have a test ride, dont let the budget tourer label put you off this is one seriously good bike. few pics with my fazer

the more i see the Tracer the more appealing it becomes. Have a friend who is an all year round rider & bike instructor-he bought one & loves it.
Budget tourer?? Well I suppose compared to some of the Bavarian Tractors etc with all the electronic gizmos it probably does appear a bit of a bargain but for £8249 OTR I know what Id rather have and spend some of the money i saved on a few choice extras like your Yoshimura exhaust system.
When the Fazer FZS 600 came out it was seen as a bit of a "parts bin special" but it was subsequent sales that proved theyd tapped into a large market and once they got the pricing realistic sales of the FZS 1000 improved.
The Fazer name lives on in other markets like India and I see the MT-07 & Tracer as worthy successors. Bikes dont have to be ridiculously expensive to be well put together and fun!

yeah no what you mean about budget etc, i picked mine up for 8050 then paid 150 for the yam heated grips. bit expensive but they work through the switchgear on the bike. they need a rad gaurd fitting and fender ex coz the big rads open to damage. i didnt like the exhaust, tail tidy ordered, thats it for spending for now. just put the full yoshi on and its great sounds like a bike now even with the baffle in! i love my fazer been to europe twice on the 2 ive owned and gonna keep it, personally i still think of the gen 1 as the fazer, the fz1s a differant bike as is the mt.

Well wear bobdog, I to was surprised by the likeness as it is the first time I have seen them side by side.
Met an old neighbour from West Cork at the Faugheen road races who was raving about the Tracer he had just bought. He traded in his Gsxr1000 for it and thinks it is one the best bikes he has ever ridden, great fun.

I have been on two test rides of the Tracer it is the first jap bike I have been interested in for 5 years plus. My circumstances are a little unusual as I have a Superduke R for hooning around on and a Fazer 1000 Gen 1 for commuting and touring. I dont want to part with either bike so it is a case of buying another bike that can justify its place alongside them.
The Superduke is good fun on twisty roads and for blasting around country roads with my mates. However it is too uncomfortable to ride more than a hour at a time.
The fazer is a brilliant do anything bike but it is a touch heavy and lacks a little braking when really getting a move on. Plus it feels a little long in the tooth, it isnt but analogue clocks and right way up forks date it somewhat.
I tried a KTM990 SMT which was great but too much like the Superduke. Then tried a Triumph Tiger and Sprint 1050 which were nice to ride but felt heavy and poor build quality. A Z1000SX too vibey. A S1000XR too tall, too revvy and not enough wow for 14k. Both a 2013 and 2015 Multistrada I really want to like these and they are getting better but I just cant love it enough to pay 16k odd for one.
The MT09 Tracer is an absolutely brilliant bike it weighs nothing and encourages hooligan behaviour. I was straight onto gravel strewn single track roads which I would have hated to take my other bikes on and loved getting it sideways on them. I found it all day comfortable and the crossplane triple was a brilliant torquey motor than loves to rev. It can tour, commute, plod around town or rip around backlanes. You can take one offroad far easier than a KTM Adventure or Multistrada.
I havent bought one yet as they are only 9500 euros in Germany which works out 6500-7000 pounds at current exchange rates. I will wait until the new reg next week and then head over and buy one as soon as 1 pound gets back to 1.4 euro.
I am happy to shell out for steel brake hoses, a 700 quid Akrapovic full system (from Europe, 900 odd over here) plus a Nitron rear shock and a fork cartridge kit, plus an ECU reflash to remove the limiters in the top 2 gears. I reckon I could easily gain 5bhp anf shed 5kg in weight perhaps more. Especially if I chuck some carbon wheels on it. I reckon it will then be a match for any advebture styked bike on the market and close to a supermoto on tiny B roads.

The Tracer looks a bit more bike somehow than the MT.09, saw an MT in the car park yesterday ,seems like lots of parts are missing, like a skinny bird,,not much bike.

I was looking at an MT09 Tracer today at the Steel Horse café,,,hell what a huge mess that standard exaust is,,horrible junk under the bike, out of the way? yes,,out of sight ? NO faking way,,you certainly would have to get rid of it.

Budget motorcycling until it falls over, so many panels to replace, like so many so called naked bikes these days. One slip in the driveway could cost you an arm and a leg.
I'm sure its a very competent motor, but its also a part suppliers dream
