Anyone know what these wires are under the seat ?
« on: 25 July 2015, 09:24:28 am »
Just wondering what these wires are for that are under my seat on the left side.

Fused line goes up to the connector compartment under the tank but isn't connected to anything !
Plug with single wire not connected to anything.
Plug with 2 wires has been bridged.
Plug with 4 wires 2 of them bridged.

cheers.

They are not part of the standard wiring loom and will have been for accessories fitted and then removed.  The one running to the connector box under the seat was probably for heated grips it looks like the fuse holder Oxford use for Hotgrips.  The other connectors with bridging plugs in them were probably for an alarm/immobiliser

They're for the optional Yamaha immobiliser.
Make sure the contacts on the links are clean and tape them to the loom. If they can move about the wires can chafe through and then the ignition cuts out leaving you stranded on the M3 at midnight. :'(

Thanks for the replies :) .

I'll give the connectors a wee clean then tape them up as I don't want to find myself stranded out in the middle of nowhere.
