Cable routing.....
« on: 16 July 2015, 09:04:42 pm »
so i am trying to get the cable routing correct near the battery, mainly for the 4 wires coming from the lower engine ( temp, pressure, neutral and other....) as well as the starter motor wire to its relay behind the battery...

I took pictures before i stripped the bike but cannot figure out how the STARTER motor wire routes, does it stay on the outside of the battey compartment under the relays or does it go somewhere else...

if anyone can make sense of what i just said or has a pic handy would be appreciated.....

Thanks Sinto - it does but its not clear to me - if you can get  a pic of the side like i have as well as the way the cable is tucked behind the relay or however it is routed at the relay that would be great, no rush....

i think so....

the first pic, at the top above the yellow/blue wires, is that the starter motor wire curling in to the top of the relay, any chance u can snap that, i want to see once it has ran along under the relays and up does it snake back onto the relay?

thanks sinto

so as advised by Unfazed "Page 8  in the supplementary manual shows it well, but you need to magnify it up to 300 to get a good look at it."....

Might do the trick Sinto so you can stand down with the camera  :lol

i shall try this first then post my results!

Page 8 of the 2000 supplementary manual shows it well but you need to up the magnification to about 300
It is routed strangely from the terminal nearest the battery.
Just checked mine and it is out to the left and down about 40mm then back and up the same height then down under the harness and inside the frame clipped to the harness on the way to the starter motor.

See, clear as mud, will try and get a picture tomorrow evening if you cannot follow the clear as mud explanation above :lol

I'm confused :(
Anutz posts a quotation from you before you've posted it and then you make it really clear as to how the wires go :lol and to add to this, I don't have the relay to the left,  this isn't fair! I want one of those,  what's it for anyway?  :b

So......back on topic, aside from the potential that its an anti-gravity relay, it does have a diode sign on it?

Its 2001, the supplement manual says its a relay assembly....really helpful, unless its a big diode that is there to prevent the reverse emf of the motor causing issues to something else

To suppress Sintos confused state :lol

It is the diode for the Neutral Light circuit, on the 98-99 models it is under the tank and on the foxeye models it is integrated into the Starter cut out relay and the 2000-2001 models it is as you see in Anutzs picture :)

I can see a question coming here  :eek

Relay is in the wrong way, rotate it 90degrees anticlockwise from where it is in the picture and then follow the previous clear as mud instruction :)

not sure its in the wrong way, if i rotate it then nothing reaches and the positive lead is pointing the wrong way....
