I got given a free rugby top at work the other day, but it's made of polyester for strength purposes.
I swear i was waiting to spontaneously combust when i put it on, you could hear the crackling of static, absolutely no way i could wear it.
All my boots have to be anti static as well, otherwise i get shocks between my toes when i walk, which is even worse in winter. Can only wear 100% cotton socks as well otherwise it just makes things worse.
Sounds funny, but it really isn't.  :lol

When you get a weekend of lovely weather like this one and some complete arse in the vicinity decides to light a bonfire.

Usually 5 minutes after you’ve hung the washing out to dry!

nuisance neighbours eh?

in a garden or on wasteland.........if garden

ring 999 get fire to attend, tell operator you think its a house job........upon arrival Fire may let it go as a controlled burn but the proviso will be that if further calls come in, we'll have to extinguish

so if it isn't put out first go................multiple calls from you and the neighbours :lol

there's more than one way to skin a cat ;)

If it's a regular problem by the same person report them to your environmental health department they will take action. We had the same problem where I used to live the idiot had a gardening business and rather than pay tipping charges for his business waste he used to burn it most evenings in summer burning weeds and grass stinks and the smoke hung on wind lass nights. I spoke to the t**t but no change so reported him to environmental health along with several of the neighbours. He was served with an enforcement notice to stop the fires he had no choice but had to comply. Best do these things the legal way rather than the way most of us would like too.

I was under the impression it's perfectly legal to have a bonfire in your own garden?

Depends on your local by-laws

Where I am in the UK, it is after dusk only.
At my French place, none are allowed from April to October

They might have acted because there were a fair few reports about the same person and it was commercial garden/waste he was burning. He stopped and that was all the people that lived with a square mile of him was bothered about.

As BB said it depends on the local authorities. Some areas you are not allowed to burn ordinary household coal but it has to be smokeless, not sure about logs.
We retained one open fireplace in my house in our front sitting room (Posh people call it a lounge) the open fire makes a real focal point and creates a nice warm atmosphere.

Burning weeds and grass could be classed as a vegetarians BBQ.  :lol

Logs are now 'green' if you burn them in an approved log burner - we also burn smokeless coal as we had a multi-fuel stove installed but when we bought the house it had an open fire and I used the coal that was in the tumbled down coal bunker and OMG did it smoke! I had to mix it in with smokeless stuff to get rid of it.

They are trying to implement that but for existing log burners/fires, dry wood is OK anyway. Its the damp stuff that spits, farts and smokes a lot.

At home we had an open fire and some wood - I think it was ash used to spit like mad, you would be watching some mothers do ave em and suddenly a red hot meteorite would come flying at you.
Thanks to constant colds as a kid I am now a perfect shot at living room distance from throwing the tissues into the fire from the sofa.

people who are at traffic lights, and when the light sequence turns to green they are never ready to pull away, most annoying.

Car drivers that slow down for speed cameras when they are already going 20mph less than the limit!!!!
The one that did it tonight nearly had 44 tonnes of lorry to help speed him back up again.

Preposed £2000 extra tax per household to properly fund the NHS when they are giving £15 billion pounds of our hard earned money in foreign aid away every year. It's about time those supposedly running this country looked after there own people first.
