Thought i would post this pic, i got a set of hyperpro springs off ebay for 42£ delivered, too cheap to pass up the chance to try them and see what they are like - sure i can sell them on for at least that...

Anyway here we are, little longer, will see how i think they change the bike, i am 18 stone with all gear on....

Left are the ones that were in my forks, i am assuming OEM, and the right ones are the ones that were sold to me as Hyperpro, so assuming both those points are true

If they are crap i will be ebaying them but reality it each time i touch on the subject of springs its a barrage of "don't but linears....." or "don't buy progressives"

could open yourself up to a world of hurt...

caliper bolts come off okay? or snap

fork bolts come undone or snap

This could turn into a nice long thread haha

might be fine though!

fit em stick in some 10w oil and see how it goes.. worst case take spring out put originals back

got forks off and drained....no issues with any bolts thank god - last one i buggered was a fender one

calipers and stuff were ok thankfully.

Regards worst case - totally agree - thats the nice thing - if its crap, i take them out and get rid, but suspect they have to be better than stock for my weight

how much would i need to buy i.e. 1L bottle of Fork Oil, what volumes are was dealing with in terms of per leg?

My bike is fitted with Hyperpro springs front and back and the yokes are supposed to be dropped down the forks by 15mm to return the front to it's standard height.

The kit was fitted by the previous-previous owner (one of the lads on here) and he bought it as a set with oil included I think.

Anyway, here's the chart that came with the manual

But seriously, why this 15mm drop on the yokes or rise in the forks, whatever way it's put, why does this make any difference? Does anyone know?

makes turn in sharper etc
in other word alters steering angle rake etc

im running vfr springs, eliminators, 17/18wt oil 100mm air gap,fork through yokes 20mm(thats co im currently running 70 series tyre)
bikes well balanced and stable at speed not too twitchy ( but im not worried about front coming up) has transformed handling alot no more running wide in corners

I know of it turning in quicker, I'm more intrigued to find out why people are saying "you have to have the 15mm"?
You can have them anywhere you really want to surely? Providing both sides are equal and it's not obstructing anything else, it's then down to personal choice and preferences which you only get with trial and error, what suits one rider won't maybe suit another?

It's probably just to get the ride height back to standard, they could've said cut 15mm off spacer but that would mean losing 15mm of fork travel.

What surprises me is they are quoting the same for all ages of Fazer when the Yamaha spring length is different on models with or without preload adjusters.

quick update, have no oil yet but re-assembled the forks with new springs in and they are MUCH firmer, so looking promising...

With my OEM ones i compress them by hand, with these springs no chance, had to put some weight into it....so might be spot on for a big boned person like me...
