Rear Caliper seal...
« on: 10 June 2015, 10:12:29 pm »
So when i took off my OEM caliper i thought it was toast....so put a 1000 caliper on it...

Now that i know a little more....or have done a lot with the front and rear braking i think it will actually be salavagable....

But i have lost a little "O" ring seal i think

Anyone know what part this is, i cannot see a caliper expanded to this level in parts catalaogs...

The seal goes i think in the recess on the second pic, of course these are the 2 "halves..." of the caliper...

O rings, don't you just love 'em. You compress them axially they expand radially! Have you got a pair of vernier calipers handy? It's a standard engineering part, with a bit of work you should be able to source what your after for a few bob  ;)

A few years ago someone on this site said the seal for a Suzuki GS500 rear caliper was the same. Pt Number 6910734200.
Wemoto show the size as 6.5 x 11.5 x 2.2
Not used it myself so I can't confirm that info.

If you are buying O-Rings on Fleabay be aware of the type of rubber for brake fluid compatibility.
Buna - NO
Nitrile-NO
EPDM - YES
AFLAS - YES
