front fender hole?
« on: 11 May 2015, 08:09:33 pm »
Hi all
Can anyone tell me what the hole would be for on the rear side of my front fender, only noticed when I looked how to take it off to fit an extender.
Cheers.

Ohh THAT hole - looking at your picture the reflection in your guard of your rad cover makes it look like somone has cut out a square and added some mesh

The hole if I am not mistaken is from the fact that when they designed our bikes a lot of the parts came from other bikes and it is a hole that is used on the bike it was first made for

As above, this was one of the first budget sports tourers so many many things are taken from other bikes to reduce costs!
Think this particular part is from the old xj600 and was a mount for their speedo drive cable!

I thought that it could of been done by a bit of a knob previous owner trying to do a mod to cool the brakes or somthing

It's a drainage hole so if you ever ride through about 2 feet of water it lets water out so your biike doesn't get flooded.  :think

Mine's got a plastic plug in it. Should I remove it to stop the engine getting flooded?

Is there a list anywhere of what parts came from what bikes? Would be interesting to know in case you look up fazer parts and there's none available, you could actually look up, for example front mudguard from a xj600.

There might be, but I've not looked, if I'm looking for a used item I'll do some Google searching beforehand to increase my search results on ebay
Rear wheel is used on several bikes for example trx fzr thundercat and fazer

The hole is for fitting the scottoilier tube so that you can oil your calipers to stop them seizing
