Fortunately that's just smoke canisters employed for visual effect. It was one of five B17's used in the making of the film 'Memphis Belle' & was fitted with the smoke canisters for that in order to portray a damaged & failing engine/s.

A surprisingly quiet aircraft. Nothing like the roar of the mighty Lancaster!.

Battle of Britain Anniversary Air Show this afternoon. One word sums it up....awesome.
