Actual gold clocks or is it a surround to make it look gold? Unless you physically have the bike in front of you, it is very hard to determine what other owners have done to it, so your just guessing and putting 2 + 2 will equal 5 in that case :rollin

Hey, yea I'm just jumping the gun because the bike is in storage 200 miles away until I pass my test and collect it. Its a gold surround on the right clock on the the dash like this:

Thanks

All the 98 to 01 model had a gold surround the 02-03 have a carbon surround

If the clocks have 2 buttons it is 00-01. Pressing the larger of the 2 button scrolls through the mileage, trip meters and the clock, small button resets the trip or adjusts the clock

If they have 1 button it is 98-99

The 02-03 clocks have 2 buttons also but have the clock in the rev counter and will not fit the early 98 to 01 models easily

My bad, I guess I didnt look closely enough at the pic above :D this is a pic of my bikes clock and a video too.

I don't know why I am worrying about it, I have seen the bike and I know its in good condition. I should consider myself lucky I have nothing better to worry about.

Thanks.

So nothing to worry about, clocks seem fine.
I just have a plain gold surround, no tuning forks on mine, but I don't mind that, just another thing to take my eye away when looking at the clock area,  I'm actually thinking of taking off or covering the gold on my clocks with black, (not a fan of carbon or carbon look) as it's a fair distraction in my view, don't know what others think though.

Haha, thanks. Yea I am overwhelmingly excited. Really it will just be nice to go out on longer trips with a bit more leg room than my 125 provides  :lol

I was looking at newer bikes with a higher budget because I like the sparkly new feel and was pleased when I found the fazer with such low miles at a good price.

Il be reading the forums getting gradually more excited for the next week or two until I can finally ride her home.

Good advice, it can still catch you out if you're not paying full attention.

Thanks for the advice guys, don't worry I will be careful! I will take her steady. I want to say I am pretty sensible on the road...

I'm pretty confident on the 125 but its a lot smaller and a lot lighter. I am actually pretty nervous anticipating the difference between what I am used to and a 600cc bike.

I bought mine when I was 19 and had it restricted for a year. Was awesome especially coming from a restricted GS500. I've done loads to mine, looks very different and has grown and upgraded with me along with my riding I would like to think. I would strongly recommend a bike safe course if it's your first big bike, they're pretty cheap and just keeps you that bit more aware of the dangers of the road and what having a powerful bike can mean. Police riders were really helpful and totally sound as well which has made me respect them a lot more.

Mostly though you will be having an awesome time I'm sure and they are truly excellent bikes. I must admit I'm always lusting after all kinds of weird stuff, currently my urge is a TL1000r but every time I go out I just think "I chose wisely, excellent bike". I did try and sell it once and am quite glad I was unsuccessful, for my budget I don't think I could have a better all round machine. I have a lot of good memories on this bike; first bike I ground pegs with, first bike I toured on (not been abroad yet but maybe one day), first bike I've serviced and did fairly substantial mechanics on, first bike I did 100 (kph  ;) ) on however my favourite memory is the day I whacked out the restrictors and gave it its first handful on a big straight in second. Literally was a WOWZAAAAA moment and still is now, I barely get the chance so it still makes me smile and never gets old. My Dad's SV headlight just slowly fading in my mirror and imagining the quiet "bollocks" mumbled in his helmet still makes me chuckle.

Oh this brings back memories of jumping from a 90cc upto my big 500! No fear though, jumped on it, took it round the block to get used to the size, then that was me, off grinning like a chesser cat, was out on it all day and no phones back in them days to say where I was or how I was, what a bollocking I got when I got home much later that day lol :rollin
But that said, you say your dad's got a fireblade?   He's gonna be embarrassed if you don't get out there and show him.you can do it lol
Only advise I'll give you is... Take it easy at first, might be bigger and heavier than what your used to but you'll be surprised how quickly you get used to it, 600 fazers aren't like other 600's, I know as I've had a few, it's very easy to ride and will put a grin on your face as it's very flickable, but also very easy to cruise, a bit like what an escort/focus is in the car world.
After thought!!
GET OUT AND ENJOY IT :rollin

Lol
nope, it's a bike that's like them in the car world,
it's laughed at from people that don't have them,
it also just fits in to normal day to day use but can be modified, tuned and still look like 'normal' to the naked eye.
And yes I've had escorts (not the ones you've had lol) and focuses so I stand by my comments :rollin

Do a lot of research about good/bad points if you ever feel like scratching that itch with a TL1000R.
For years I always wanted the TL1000S but it just never happened, but after reading about them both recently they can be hard work.
The R was meant to be the ironed out version of the manic S, but it still had issues.

Don't want to hijack his thread darrsi, but yeah I've read about some of their "quirks". I have always loved the SRAD suzuki sport bike shape and never heard of the TL until I saw one a few weeks ago, in a multi storey. Got talking to the guy and he started it up, full yoshi exhaust.... I messed myself. Big time. It's just a dream anyway, something to ponder along with all my other ponderings if I ever get the job I want. I'll probably never get rid of the FZS though if possible.

Don't worry too much about hijacking the thread, I think I've said about all there is to say until I get my fzs. It fills me with confidence that so many people here have such good things to say about the bike. I was originally going to go for a Honda hornet but I went for the fzs in the end of course though I do love the look of the hornet 600.

I must admit I'm not a big fan of suzuki,  though I haven't looked at them much. A lot of friends recommended I look at the sv650 but it didn't really float my boat.

Trying not to make too much of a tw*t of myself after already doing so throughout this thread. I only went and lost my 125 keys today... So I've been stressing all day looking for them and they are nowhere to be seen. I hope they crop up tomorrow and my bike doesn't go mysteriously missing in the meantime. Not really sure what my options are if I don't find them as the key I lost was my only key (spare key was left with my parents for safe keeping but they upon phoning them today they claim they lost it during a house move... Fantastic).

So much for saying I have nothing better to worry about.  :eek

Yea I know where they are don't worry ;) just not the key!

I'm going to look a little funny getting a taxi to my DAS in full motorcycle gear if I can't find my keys.

I have a buyer lined up for the 125 as well but won't be much good to them without the keys either... Heh.

I remember around the same time these were popular you also had the Honda VTR1000 Firestorm as well.
Was following one down the Kings Road in Chelsea years ago, and i dunno what after market exhaust he had on but it was just the best sound ever.  :b
But again, things like the 16 litre fuel tank can put me right off, that's just ridiculous.

Yeah Firestorm's are awesome too but I think the TL in the R form looks so nice which is big praise from someone not too keen on sports bikes. Like you say though, tiny fuel tanks and thirsty engines are a let down. I don't often fill my Fazers tank, usually spend about a tenner but its nice to know when I do I can get 200 miles. My best record ever was 225 2 up in Wales although that was pushing it! I have the 18L tank I think, but yeah spending however much on 17L of fuel to do about 110 miles would get annoying especially when you're stuck behind a tractor or awful driver on solid double white lines and have to sit there at 25mph which seems like about every single ride these days.
