Engine side throttle cable adjusting.
« on: 06 April 2015, 05:29:21 pm »
im having my usual dramas with my bike and my newest problem is that i've fitted my new throttle cable but the throttle isnt snapping back.

Theres a very small snap back right at the end as i manually close the throttle.

A bit confused really......on the grip side ive got the single adjuster wound right up as if i go the other way it makes the throttle too tight.

& engine side im not sure what i should really be doing......i presumed that i needed to make the return cable on the bottom a bit tighter but it doesnt seem to matter how i adjust them it still does the same thing.

Any ideas please???

Red you were right......but it wasnt the adjsting of the return cable as such.......round the back the cable had come off the runner....a little flat piece of sticking out metal like a flat fin....cable had jumped off of it and was underneath it which i think (coz you cant actually see behind there its all poking around and guessing) had doubled over the cable......this must have been making it too tight.

I managed to poke the cable out and then bak over the guide and hey presto the throttle was minted....anapping back beautifully so it is....i just hope i havent put undue stress on the cable now.....seems lovely though. 8)

Im so chuffed...this job has been something else and im no mechanic but ive learned and done it al myself and thats what its all about.

Skooshed the area with some acf50 for good measure while i was in there.

Now i can get on with the rest of the jobs. :woot
