Givi M11 Plate
« on: 07 February 2012, 03:16:13 pm »
Hi Guys
Ive just recently purchased a givi e52 box and I am in the process of getting a givi rack for my fzs1000. I was going to purchase the M5 plate but I have also looked at the new M11 plate, has anybody already had experience of using the M11 plate ? if so is it just as easy to remove the topbox , is it anymore sturdy/secure , what does it look like on the bike.
Many Thanks

I know this reply is two months after your original post but I'll put it anyway in case you're not sorted or if anyone in a similar position comes across this thread.
Your box won't fit to an M11 any more securely than the M5 as the important bits (the Monokey mountings) are identical.
I have the M5 on my 2002 Gen1 FZS1000 with the E55 Maxia box and it is rock steady.
Whilst between Fazers, I also had the use for a couple of months of a Bandit 1250 (you won't tell anyone, right?).
This was fitted with the equivalent Suzuki specific, metal monokey plate and I have noticed no difference between the metal and nylon plates in the security of the box mounting.

I did a video on Youtube when I installed the Monorack and plate if anyone is interested in how easy it is to do yourself.

There is also a video of my Givi E55 Maxia top box too here.

Hope this helps you (or anyone else) ;)

Hello,

I got an M11 plate on my Fazer for the sad reality of carrying a laptop on my commute. I never had an M5 but I would say the M11 is a much better fit for the Givi top box than the E43 Givi plastic plate I had on my BMW. No movement at all, unlike the E43 which did move a bit..
