« on: 19 March 2015, 07:53:43 pm »
Is it worth holding on to AF spanners and sockets?

Keep them, never throw away any tools unless they are broken or worn out totally.
I have an old large toolbox full of  old spanners , sockets etc. Old sockets are useful for hammering onto rounded off bolts to undo them.

THOW TOOLS AWAY????? NEVER!!

Sell them? It would be like selling my kids!

I have the same as Slappy, an old tool box full of tools I haven't used in years. But I still have two complete identical A/F Combinations spanner sets hanging up in the garage, just in case I need some quick like.

I've considered getting rid where they are duplicated three or four times, but couldn't bring myself to do it.
Maybe that's why the garage is so cluttered up  :\ .

You'll need them the moment you part with them.....it's how it is!
Spare spanners are good, we've made some frankenstein tools by cutting up and welding together spare spanners....never know when you'll need to get to a bolt around a corner under a something etc

Old A/F ? what about Whitworth? still got mine, you just never know when you might come across a cheap Brough Superior.

Yes you do. Just as soon as those pigs have finished circling the top of the Eiffel Tower and come in for a landing at Heathrow.
