removing generator cover fazer 1000 gen 1

If i remove the generator cover, how much oil will come out? Is it the amount that's behind the casing or will it keep flowing out until the engine oil runs out completely. The reason i'm asking is should i change the oil when removing it or will i get away with just losing a small amount.. The other thing is will i need to replace the gasket or do they usually come off with a tap on the casing and gentle removal.

You shouldn't get any oil from the generator cover but yes, you will need a new gasket.
