London parking
« on: 09 January 2015, 12:01:29 am »

Hello everyone

Finally managed to land myself a job and back in the city - so the bike is back out of temporary retirement. Any recommendations for parking near the Gherkin? DOn't mind paying (if I must) but would prefer off street and the knowledge that I will find a spot every day.
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

The  nearest pay bay is St Mary's axe
Just flapping about on this stagnant little pond on the outer rim of the internet.....yup....  :-))

I use this site fella - postcode then "map features" for paid or free parking. It's trial and error for the arrival time to see if you get a space so start early and judge from there.

Good luck

I've used this one a few times a short walk away from you near Tower Gateway station:-
http://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/services/transport-and-streets/parking/where-to-park/car-parks/Pages/Minories-car-park.aspx

Decent multi-story, bikes a free on 1st floor undercover in their little cordoned off area. Attendant always on site manning CCTV and there's gubbins to chain bike to as well. Can be busy, but has a lot of space.

Or there's this one on Lower Thames St too:

Not tried this one, but probably very similar.

It's also a good one to remember if you want to take car into town at weekend, as it's dirt cheap and close to centre.

Bike bays in that area are free, closest being St Marys axe at junction of leadenhall, another Bay is on creechurch Street, or great St Helens, there is a very sneaky spot down clothier Street which is not a bay but neither a ticket enforceable parking area!
Some say...
