Hole in my shoe (punctured wellington actually)
« on: 04 January 2015, 06:56:47 pm »
Has anyone had any success using an ordinary bicycle inner tube puncture repair kit to patch a small hole/split in wellington boots?.They are the rubber type rather than the plastic/vinyl material.I don't want to have buy any special adhesive cos they are not that expensive to buy anyway (just used for garden & car washing etc..).

Cheers guys.YFF.

I've got a piece of Duct tape covering a hole over the toes in my wellys, been there years and doesn't leak.

I think i've used this glue before on a pair of boots years ago.
Once you've opened it you need to store it in the fridge otherwise the whole lot goes off really quickly.

I would be weary of repairing them if the puncture is in the side wall.

I first had a pair of boots fixed on the join of the sole to the leather upper using that glue, that's where i learned about it, and it's ridiculously strong but also flexible.
I was in no doubt it would tear again in no time but a few years later and they're still going strong, i still use them if working on the bike as i don't mind if they get scuffed.
It's a marine strength waterproof glue designed primarily to fix wetsuits, rubber boats, etc. so it really is good gear.

Personally though, i think i'd splash out and get myself a newer, faster pair of wellies.  :)

I have sorted mine and filled them with that green gunk to prevent any punctures causing any problems

The answer is simple. Drill another hole in the front of the boot for drainage
