Speedo issue
« on: 09 December 2014, 10:54:09 am »
Hello all

My speedo stopped working today. It was fine yesterday!!

The lugs don't look broken on the speedo drive. The Odo works fine as does the Rev counter and fuel gauge

I can't remember on the fazer of the needles go right up and down when you first turn the bike on?

Anyone know of a fix for this problem??

If the lugs are ok next thing to check is the lead that runs from the wheel to the clocks.make sure its not trapped anywhere or rubbing on something.check closely around the brake caliper............

You say the odo is fine, so the mileage reading gets higher as you drive along the road? In that case the sensor and wiring is OK.  Sounds like it is the speedo head itself that's the problem. The needles don't do a sweep test when you turn the ignition on

If the ODO isn't working and the lugs are fine, look for a chaffed wire between the hub and the head unit.

Hello all, thanks for those that replied to my post you are appreciated,

When we mention lugs here are we talking about the ones that located the speedo drive on the fork leg? Or are there ones inside the actual speedo drive? I havn't taken the wheel off and looked inside the drive?

Fowlers supply bike shops as well with original parts, that's why they'll have a lot of stock.

I normally have at least two in stock at any one time. they are know for breaking up, especially if someone who does not know about them has the wheel out.
