Tank range?
« on: 12 November 2014, 08:58:27 am »
Hi all
Been looking at FZ1s for a little while now, and before I go any further I was wondering what sort of tank range you are getting. Now I know it depends on how you ride but just a general idea would be good.  :) thanks in advance

Although I have never actually done a range test, I use mine as my daily commuter and I get about 200 - 220 out of a full tank without putting myself in risk of conking out.  Stock engine, gearing etc over a mixture of motorway, b roads and crossing a large ish town

That's for an FZS 1000 mate, not an FZ1.
FZ1 has a smaller tank and is less efficient - you'll probably get 120-130 normal riding, maybe 150/160 on a motorway run

I used to get 115 to the flashing reserve, 20 miles was the most I did after that so min 135.

Would agree on a decent run mixture of M/Way A&B roads just enjoying the scenery 150/160. Riding it like you stole it 110/115.
Anyone know why they stuck a smaller tank on the Gen 2?  :rolleyes

When i was about 18 my older mate kev who had a nissan sunny at the time used to believe that when he was running out of fuel that the best thing to do was put the foot down so that he could get to the petrol station before the fuel ran out. :rolleyes

Yes there are people like this among us :\
